As a consultant to an electrical engineering company, KDW assisted in the placement of new HVAC condenser units on the roof of the Atmospheric Science Building. Our scope entailed the design of a mechanical equipment platform and roof penetrations within an existing skylight.

Brooklane Early Childhood Learning Center

Brooklane Early Childhood Learning Center serves the children of married on-campus students by providing education, daycare, and recreation facilities. This project involved 4,500 sf interior reconfiguration and renovation, along with a 1,500 sf addition to increase the size of three existing classrooms and expand the kitchen. All finishes were upgraded, and restrooms were reworked to accommodate the associated mechanical systems upgrade.

Johnson Quaternary Research Center Renovations

The Quaternary Research Center (QRC) is focused on the study of the earth’s environment over the last two million years, involving severe climactic changes such as deep freeze conditions. KDW is assisting in a highly sensitive refurbishment of a 32-year old, 1,400 square foot, -40 degree freezer serving the QRC’s research efforts, involving mechanical/electrical systems in two sections of the freezer, and replacement of all components and sytems in three other sections of the freezer. Remodels to the surrounding 2,880 sf research laboratories require specialized insulation to prevent condensation between the extreme temperature differences surrounding the freezer.

Engineering Technology Building Utility Upgrade

Working in conjunction with Coffman Engineers, KDW was responsible for an upgrade to all mechanical and electrical systems servicing the engineering technology teaching facility.

Kitchen Ventilation Upgrades

Main Campus Cable Extension

KDW assisted an electrical engineering firm in the design of a new 1000-foot electrical duct bank, installed in a manner which would enable the duct to function as a sidewalk, due to the poor soils conditions in the area.
