After a programming analysis of three identical two-story buildings on the Microsoft campus, KDW performed interior renovation and remodeling to two of the buildings, encompassing 230,000 square feet. The goal was to create state-of-the-art developer spaces, supported by administrative offices, mail rooms, lounges, reception areas, and conference spaces.

KDW began by creating Developer Standards for both buildings, establishing a Corporate Cable room, removing several small existing cafeterias, and completely replacing the mechanical, electrical, structural and communications systems. We then worked closely with the users and staff to design a variety of sophisticated developer laboratories.

Interior improvements included new carpet, paint, wall coverings, furniture, lighting, and artwork, as well as the creation of space standards for small, medium, and large conference rooms to better organize the core and lobbies of both buildings. A separate 1,600 sf theater-style conference room was designed in Building 9 to facilitate presentations and training, featuring overhead projection and an AV- equipped podium to accommodate 100 people for lectures, and 60 people for hands-on training.
